Social Media Spending to Outpace Email in 2012

According to Forrester's latest forecast of interactive marketing spend, display, search, email, mobile and social media are to reach nearly $55 billion in spending by 2014. No big shocker there, anyone paying attention could see this groundswell coming. Also expected or, not a big deal, is the forecast that print and direct mail will lose the most ground to interactive. What is interesting is that Forrester is predicting that social media will grow in spending from $700 million this year to $3 billion in 5 years, and is expected to catch up to email spending of $1.6 billion in 2012.
